Our services

Yardım – Intercultural Housing Assistance e. V. offers outpatient support services in accordance with §§ 67 ff. SGB XII for people affected by special social difficulties. Our support is aimed at individuals who are at risk of homelessness or are already homeless. All services are available across all districts of Berlin and are free of charge.

Assistance according to §§ 67 ff. SGB XII

The assistance pursuant to §§ 67 ff. of the Twelfth Book of the Social Code (SGB XII) is intended for people who require support due to special social difficulties in order to stabilize and improve their living situation.

Special social difficulties may arise, for example, from:

  • impending or existing homelessness
  • excessive debt
  • unemployment or lack of income
  • health or psychological burdens
  • social isolation

The goal of the assistance is to jointly find ways to enable an independent life in stable housing conditions.

BEW – Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living (BEW) is aimed at people who already have their own housing or are looking for an apartment and need support in the process.

Within the framework of BEW, we provide individualized, needs-based support to our clients in their daily lives.

Support within BEW may include:

  • stabilization of the housing situation
  • assistance in dealing with authorities (e.g. Jobcenter, social welfare office, housing office)
  • clarification of income and entitlement to social benefits
  • debt management and household budgeting
  • support with personal and social challenges
  • development of realistic future perspectives

The support is provided on an outpatient basis, meaning:

Clients live independently in their own homes and receive regular support from our professional staff.

WuW – Housing Retention & Housing Acquisition

The WuW (housing retention and housing acquisition) program is aimed at people who are at risk of losing their housing, or who are already homeless and need support in finding accommodation.

Housing Retention

If the loss of housing is imminent, we provide support with:

  • rent arrears and termination notices
  • communication and negotiations with landlords
  • applications for cost coverage or loans
  • developing solutions to secure housing

Housing Acquisition

For people experiencing homelessness, we provide support with:

  • active housing search
  • preparation of application documents
  • establishing contacts with housing companies
  • organizational matters related to moving in and starting anew

The goal is to find new housing and secure it in the long term.

Intercultural Orientation

A special focus of our work is intercultural support.

If needed, we also provide counseling in Turkish in order to reduce language barriers and enable a trusting collaboration.

Available throughout Berlin & free of charge

Our services are available to all residents of Berlin, regardless of district.

Counseling and support are provided free of charge within the scope of approved assistance.
